Talking with Russian school student from Moscow suburbs. He is a metal music fan.
- I don't like American metal bands
- Why? Are they playing bad?
- No, I don't like Americans at all.
- And how many people of your age around you who don't like USA too?
- Not all, but the most of.
Thus, he will miss all the ideas of rebellion and freedom, which was born mainly in the USA. The only thing he'll have - dumb pride about not being an American.
The modern Russian antiamerican propaganda works good... Even much more than in Soviet Union.

Agree with you. And works much. And, in principle, it's not tough job for authorities.

In my neighbourhood, they call Americans "pindosy" (plural from "pindos", distorted from "peedar" or "pidaras", which means "queer"), but gladly using goods of American culture, like Coca-Cola or Rock'n'Roll.
Antiamericanism could be different. On the one side, it's marasmus to deny whole American cultural and civilization achievements. On the other - to deny consumeristic lifestyle, originated from USA, and agressive exterior politics.
I.e., leftists from RAF were impregnated with antiamericanism too, but that was not an obstacle to their rebellionism and freedom-loving.

This is critics and analytics, it's comprehensive and adequate.
For some things, I am criticizing USA too. Not for agressive politics (some countries they trying to turn to democracy should be simply asphalted, not democratized). For consumeristic lifestyle - just partially, because it's "pan-human values".
But for mentally retarged president, for reducing the civil liberties and rolling out survelliance, for the dead computer underground, which was born in mid-1980s, for 9/11, possibly initiated by the government.
